The Scummy Mummies podcast…where to start?!
I think firstly with a big THANK YOU!
Thank you Ellie and Helen for making me laugh out loud while feeding a newborn, while walking miles with the pram and while doing the mountains of washing that come with having a baby, among many other things… you ladies are hilarious and your podcast has been a life-saver in this first crazy year of motherhood.
I should be super honest and admit that the first time I listened to your early episodes was when I was about 6 months pregnant and… I didn’t really get it (bear with me) – I found some bits funny but some bits were a bit gross… was I really going to be one of those parents that found poo stories funny and would be letting my baby crawl around on the floor eating random things?!
HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!
11 months into ‘life as a mum’ the Scummy Mummy confessions are completely relatable, hilarious and a good reassurance that we all have our scummy moments! I am 100% converted and have gradually worked my way through the whole back catalogue of the podcast and read the Scummy Mummies Book.
If you haven’t listened to Scummy Mummies I would thoroughly recommend you sign up NOW if you have a baby or young children. Helen and Ellie usually have a guest on each episode and the chats are honest, amusing and cover a whole plethora of topics…. From bloggers to chefs to health to music but always with confessions and often with some really poignant stories and moments woven into the general hilarity and wine drinking 🙂
Among many other things I’ve learnt about motherhood in Nepal (I can’t begin to describe how powerful that episode was), wine, founding Mumsnet, Cherry Healey’s ‘Letters to my Fanny’ and have generally felt that however much you might be having a bad day there are so many mums out there powering on through amid the chaos, the nappy disasters and the general ‘bonkersness’ that is having children (a particular favourite was the mum whose little girl needed a poo but there was nowhere to take her so she got her to poo in a bag…. the little girl now demands a carrier bag to poo in every time she wants to go!!!!)
My poor husband has had to endure countless re-tellings of confessions and stories as they are so good you just have to share!
I now MUST make it to one of the live gigs – THANK YOU SCUMMY MUMMIES!
