We’ve used our Ergobaby 360 baby carrier since birth for Mr Small, and 9 months on it’s still a much used piece of kit.
WHY CHOOSE ERGOBABY?
The reasons I chose the Ergobaby 360 were:
- recommendations from friends
- approved by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, based on the leg position of baby in the carrier
- you could use it from birth with the newborn insert
- the wide waist belt to support the back of the person doing the carrying
- the 4 different carrying positions
- it’s mum and dad friendly – I knew my husband would be much happier with Mr Small in a more structured carrier rather than a wrap
Generally the cheaper carriers looked like they would not be as supportive for my back and shoulders, or not as good for the baby’s legs…. For me neither of those things were something I could compromise on.
From the very beginning Mr Small was happy in the Ergobaby 360… we managed our first summer alfresco pub trip with a sleeping baby strapped to my husband and now we regularly use all 4 positions:
- FACING PARENT – if we want Mr Small to have a nap (cue… Lyon airport at 6am)
- FACING OUT – for walks and out and about for coffee and a stroll
- SIDE CARRY – when doing chores around the house (easier hands free access)
- BACK CARRY – for longer walks or a quick trip to the supermarket when it’s easier to have your hands free to carry a basket/pay at the till
One side-note on baby carrying is that if you’ve suffered from diastasis (abdominal separation) post birth then you should avoid too much front carrying as it will put pressure on your core and slow the healing process so in our household I do the short journeys and my husband does the longer ones….. not a bad deal for me now that a certain small person is nudging 9.5kgs!
Lastly if you already have an Ergobaby 360, I would recommend watching this video … I’d always wondered what the little elastic loops were for and it’s a game changer for how to store away and pack your carrier!
