This section of the blog is a selection of ‘Go-To’ people, podcasts, books etc that have (at different times) educated me, amongst other things steered me in the direction to get up that all illusive full night of sleep, and also in some cases provided much hilarity and helped me keep my sanity!
When I was pregnant I didn’t really have time to read lots of preparatory books and was walking to work every day, so a podcast was the perfect alternative to feel like I was doing something to prepare for having a baby.
I stumbled across the Pregnancy Podcast after a quick search on iTunes and was hooked….
The podcast describes itself as:
HELPING MOMS AND DADS NAVIGATE ALL OF THE CRAZY AWESOMENESS THAT IS PREGNANCY, BIRTH AND BEING A NEW PARENT
With over 100 themed episodes as well as Q&A sessions you can start at the beginning or dip in and out of the topics that interest you. From pregnancy sleep, to baby’s first bath, what you should and shouldn’t eat (and why), vaccinations, having a facial during pregnancy and everything in between, this podcast has it all! It isn’t at all preachy or judgemental, it is a well researched resource that gives you the tools to make informed decisions (sometimes about things where you didn’t even know there was a choice you could make).
Vanessa Merton who hosts the podcasts shares perspectives from parents, midwives, doula’s and other professionals so you get a really rounded view on the topics covered…. After tuning in I felt SO much more prepared – thank you Vanessa!
Sidenote: The podcast is based in the US so some of the vaccination schedules etc are a bit different to the UK but still quite interesting (or you can just skip those episodes)
